Unemployment Benefits

Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 months contributions to NIS in the last 13 months
  • Involuntary unemployment (not due to misconduct or resignation)
  • Registered as seeking employment
  • Capable of and available for work
  • Under retirement age

Benefit Amount

60% of average weekly insurable earnings for up to 26 weeks.

Example: If your average weekly earnings were $1,000, your unemployment benefit would be approximately $600 per week.

Duration

Benefits are payable for a maximum of 26 weeks (6 months) within a 52-week period.

Important Notes

  • You must register within 3 months of becoming unemployed
  • Benefits begin after a 3-day waiting period
  • You must report regularly to the employment office
